Rome (TV 2005)

Mark Antony, Octavia of the Julii

I fell really hard for this show in 2020 and I am excited to see it in the tagset. I was frankly surprised to fall for Antony as a character as much as I did, but wow did I ever. There is a lot I love about him: his sometimes self-sabotaging hedonism, the heart on his sleeve, his ability to be simultaneously calculating and genuinely emotionally involved. Likewise, Octavia is fascinating to me, and I am particularly interested in their relationship and forever sad that S2 was so abbreviated, because I wanted to see more of it. I loved the moments we saw them interact one on one, from Octavia's "I'll have what she's having" moment in S1 (and Antony's clear amusement) to his defending her honor with Octavian once they're married in S2.

I am a sucker for arranged marriages/marriages of convenience/political or strategic marriages as a trope, and I would love to see a fic dealing with their marriage in any capacity. Regardless of what the two of them wanted at the outset, they're together for years and have children together, and she takes in his children with Cleopatra after his death. There's something about their mutual acceptance of the situation that really gets to me, and I am hungry for anything about that dynamic and what builds from it.

How do the two of them get along, or not, during the course of their relationship? What do each of them get out of it? Do they become friends or lovers in earnest? How do they negotiate other relationships, particularly Antony's relationship with Cleo? How does her relationship with Antony effect Octavia's sense of herself, on its own or in contrast with her other relationships we saw in the show? Does Antony know about the ~incident with Octavian, or about Servilia, and do they talk about it? How might she come into her own as the wife of a triumvir and the mother of Antony's children?

If you want to go the Yuleporn route I am super into pregnancy sex/sex for the purpose of conception so make of that what you will. What surprises the two of them about each other sexually? The snippet we saw of the two of them in bed on their wedding night was pretty perfunctory (that spit-as-lube tho) but does it stay that way? Does Octavia eventually top the shit out of Antony (pls yes)? Facesitting, dildos/pegging, body worship, sex while intoxicated, impact play, emotionally complicated sex, sex about other people, sex that captures the decadence and mess of the show is all a big yes from me. Also, you know what, if you wanted to write me het mpreg for them I would love you forever.

The Americans (TV 2013)

Elizabeth Jennings

I have been rewatching recently and I still adore this show and still love Elizabeth the most, in all her sometimes prickly, sometimes icy, sometimes (always!!) hot glory. What consistently gets me with her is the theme of identity, of the irony of somebody with such a strong sense of political and national identity dealing with both the necessity of subsuming it in 90% of her daily life (in terms of their cover as the Jennings family and her various undercover operations) and with the shifting identities of her children and of Philip. I loved the hand gesture/ritual she taught Paige and how it showed the, like, machinery and reinforcement of her identity construction. I'd love to see more moments like that, of Elizabeth's sense of herself, how she exists to herself outside of the mission and what that means.

I adore her relationship with Philip (even when the love between them is on the ebb side of its ebb and flow) and any interaction you included between them would be great. I love missionfic, honeypot scenarios, their ridiculous disguises, the way Elizabeth uses her sexuality and how things differ in the field vs. in their own bed--like the night she wanted to sleep with "Clark" and the mess that was. Their bedroom as this almost sacred space the kids aren't allowed in, all the interactions we see there, how often we see Elizabeth in the bathroom, taking off makeup, shedding the day. When does she think she's the most herself and how does Philip fit into that after all these years? How about post canon, back in Russia?

I would love OTT whump and hurt/comfort for this canon (the tooth pulling was a standout on my rewatch, plus any time Elizabeth is white knuckling her way through the day after a tough operation) and my favorite trope for partners is a situation in which one has to hurt the other or (watch the other be hurt) to keep their cover so any element of that would thrill me.

Perry Mason (TV 2020)

Sister Alice

I loved everything about season 1 of this show and I am super excited for more, but out of everything Tatiana Maslany's performance as Sister Alice was absolutely magnetic for me. I loved all the aesthetics around her and the church and the contrast between that dynamism and the tired, wan figure being propped up by backstage IVs and a "doting" mother. I love the tension between truth and fabrication that comes up over and over with her and would love to see that explored further- to what extent does she believe her own hype? I loved the creepiness of her conviction that she can raise the dead and bring back Emily's baby and would love to see a Monkey's Paw-esque horror take on that.

We got hints of the relationship between Alice and her mother, but a story filling in some of those gaps would be great- what was the aftermath of the scene where their car broke down? How have the power dynamics between them shifted to get to where they are in canon? What does Alice do when she's finally free of her mother? What does her life look like by the time Perry sees her again? What kinds of things is she exploring that she missed out on before?

I was really interested in the relationship between Alice and Emily - I could see this going full folie-a-deux or again, something really creepy around bringing Charlie back from the dead. Or maybe they come together for hurt/comfort while Emily is staying with Alice. Della's presence was interesting too - to what extent is Alice aware of Della's sexuality and how might she relate to it? I ship Alice with any of the women in the show (Della, Emily, Hazel...or hey if you want to write something dark and enmeshed with her mother I would be down for that too) and with Perry.
