Dear Trick or Treat Creator,
Sep. 18th, 2022 10:01 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Thanks so much for making something for me! I love Halloween and creepy things of all stripes, so I am looking forward to participating this year.
I am very easy to please, so as long as you avoid my DNWs I'm sure I will love whatever you create. Feel free to run with whatever strikes your fancy for these fandoms and characters. I am also perfectly happy with the treat/trick line being muddied or ignored altogether since I asked for either for each fandom. I'm fine with any rating, also fine with dubcon or noncon.
Likes:
worldbuilding details, emphasis on atmosphere, haunting (of people or places), fucked up relationship dynamics, pining, doomed characters making the best of things, immortal angst, body horror, gothic elements, Halloween-themed gifts, bats, historical or regional Halloween or horror elements, folk horror, in-universe documentation/ephemera, undead/vampires
DNWs:
—fic dealing with COVID or recent US politics (Roe v. Wade, anti- LGBTQ legislation)
— scat, emetophilia
-extremely detailed descriptions of bleeding/blood loss (passing mentions are fine/encouraged but not loving detail or specific discussion of puncturing vessels etc; it makes me woozy and I have to skim it). For What We Do In The Shadows, the canon approach to blood is totally fine. If it's ridiculous and OTT it won't hit my squick. Drawn/artistically rendered gore is totally fine.
— unrequested crossovers or fusions
- a/b/o
The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien
Maedhros/Maglor
I love the thought of these two together until the bitter end, twisted together yet unable to escape each other or their oath. Maedhros and Maglor as Merricat and Constance Blackwood?
I also find the choice to "adopt" Elrond and Elros after the third kinslaying so interesting and would love to see something exploring that time in their lives, whether a lighter moment in which they try and throw off their doom or something darker. What is the level of disconnect between the twins' vs. the Fëanorians' experience of that time?
Fingon/Maedhros
Maedhros comes back from Thangorodrim changed; in time Fingon comes to learn exactly what this means. AND/OR, Fingon changes on the Ice, in time Maedhros comes to learn exactly how. Body horror or psychic damage or just a couple of doomed guys trying to make it work, haunting each other long before or long after either is dead.
Beleg/Turin
I would love to see some marchwarden slice of life, autumn-in-Doriath moments for these two- hunting orcs, foraging in the woods, mutual pining over the cooking fire vibes. Or, what horrors might they come upon together in the dark, or harbingers of their eventual fate?
Luthien/Thuringwethil, Thuringwethil
Bat-fell! Vampire messenger of Sauron! I'm obsessed with Thuringwethil and with Luthien disguising herself as her. I would just love more about her generally- does she drink blood? Does she turn elves into vampires? Does she have thralls of her own? I would also love more about Luthien's batsona. Luthien/Thuringwethil could be amazing- are there selfcest elements? Does she need to seduce Thuringwethil to get into Angband? What if she can't fully shed Thuringwethil's form, even after Morgoth ~forcibly strips it off?
The Black Phone (2022)
Max Shaw, Gwen Blake
I loved this movie - the atmosphere and period elements were fantastic, so really anything emphasizing that art-wise would make me really happy. In universe documents or ephemera would be really interesting - I'm thinking things Max might collect, like missing posters, in-universe artists' renderings of The Grabber (kids' drawings of their nightmares, maybe, or police sketch artists), Neighborhood Watch fliers.
I'm requesting these two because I'm really interested in the specific awfulness of being party to the horror as an outsider to varying degrees. How might they interact together? What if Max were in Gwen's dreams or vice versa? I get the sense this is not Max's first rodeo in terms of similar obsessions, so what has that looked like in the past, and to what extent is he in denial about The Grabber, and what has his relationship with his brother been like historically? (Max/The Grabber is definitely on the table here). For Gwen, I'd love to see the future fallout of having a close family member victimized by such a notorious crime.
What We Do In the Shadows (TV)
The Djinn, Nandor the Relentless, Laszlo Cravensworth
I'm here for however you want to explore these characters (in any combination) and the world of the show, either comedically or with a darker spin. Maybe Nandor and Laszlo enlist the Djinn to show young Colin Robinson a good old fashioned human Halloween with potentially disastrous results. Semi-outsider Djinn POV would be awesome too - what does he do when he's not granting wishes? Is this even the worst wish-granting situation he's ever been in? I'm here for any combination of ship content with these three.
Additionally, I really love the Staten Island house as a setting and even as something of a character in its own right - anything involving the vampires' or the Djinn's relationship to this increasingly decrepit house would delight me.
